Health Therapies Clinics — Freshwater NSW
Everything you need to know about HTC — from your first visit to practitioner room enquiries. Can't find your answer? Contact us directly.
Health Therapies Clinics operates as an integrative wellness collective rather than a traditional single-modality clinic. Under one roof in Freshwater, we bring together practitioners in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, naturopathy, nutritional medicine, remedial and relaxation massage, kinesiology, holistic psychotherapy, sound healing and beauty therapies including eye treatments and lash services.
This means that patients can access a genuinely coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to their health — and that treatment can evolve alongside their needs without requiring them to navigate multiple clinics, booking systems and intake processes. Our practitioners communicate with each other about shared patients, creating a level of integration that single-practitioner clinics cannot offer.
We're also a dual-purpose facility: patients come to us for treatment, and natural health practitioners come to us to rent consultation rooms. This creates a living, active wellness community at our Freshwater location.
Yes — and this is one of the core advantages of the HTC model. You might see our acupuncturist for chronic back pain, our naturopath for hormonal health, and our massage therapist for sports recovery, all within the same clinic. You are not required to see only one practitioner, and your practitioners can communicate with each other about your overall health picture if you consent to this.
Many HTC patients build a small team of practitioners over time, meeting different needs across their health journey. If you're not sure how to structure your care, contact us and we'll help you think through the most effective starting point and progression.
Health Therapies Clinics is located in Freshwater, Sydney's Northern Beaches, NSW 2096. Freshwater sits between Manly and Curl Curl, and is easily accessible from Manly, Dee Why, Collaroy, Narrabeen, Curl Curl, Queenscliff and Balgowlah.
We are open Monday through Sunday, 9:00am to 9:00pm, making us accessible for early morning, lunchtime, after-work and weekend appointments. Please see our Contact page for our full address, parking information and public transport options.
This is the most common question we receive — and we're genuinely happy to help you answer it before you book. The best starting points are:
There is no wrong first step, and your first practitioner can help you understand what else might benefit you.
Yes — all HTC practitioners hold current registration or membership with their relevant professional bodies:
Registration status can be verified at ahpra.gov.au and atms.com.au. HTC does not engage practitioners who do not hold current, appropriate professional registration.
This is one of the most important distinctions to understand when booking massage at HTC.
Remedial massage is a clinical treatment for specific musculoskeletal conditions. The therapist performs an assessment before treatment, identifies dysfunctional muscle groups and patterns of restriction, and applies targeted techniques to address them. Remedial massage targets specific complaints — back pain, neck tension, sports injuries, postural problems — and typically attracts health fund rebates. It can be uncomfortable in the areas of restriction being worked on, though a good therapist will manage pressure communication throughout.
Relaxation massage is a full-body, flowing treatment focused on inducing a parasympathetic relaxation response. It is not targeted toward a specific complaint and does not typically involve assessment or clinical documentation. Relaxation massage is deeply beneficial for stress, sleep, general wellbeing and emotional regulation — but if you have a specific physical complaint, remedial massage is more appropriate.
Not sure which suits you? Tell us what's going on when you book and we'll recommend the right option.
No referral is needed to see a naturopath or any other practitioner at HTC. Natural health practitioners in Australia operate independently, and you can self-refer at any time. Simply book online or contact us directly.
It is, however, genuinely helpful — not required — to bring any recent pathology results, specialist letters or a medication list to your first naturopathic consultation. This allows your naturopath to work with, rather than around, your existing medical care and avoids any unnecessary duplication of testing.
Kinesiology uses muscle testing as bio-energetic feedback to identify and address stress patterns in the body — structural, emotional, nutritional and energetic. People most commonly seek kinesiology at HTC for:
It's important to be honest about the evidence base: the strongest support for kinesiology is in stress reduction and subjective wellbeing. Muscle testing should not be used as a primary diagnostic tool for serious medical conditions. Our kinesiologists work within appropriate scope and maintain their patients' GP relationships.
Sound healing has a growing evidence base, and an honest assessment is as follows: the strongest evidence supports its effects on the autonomic nervous system — specifically its capacity to shift listeners toward a parasympathetic state, reduce physiological stress markers and lower cortisol. Research into vagal nerve stimulation via acoustic means is expanding considerably.
More specific claims — for example, that particular frequencies directly heal specific organs or conditions — are less well-supported by clinical research and should be approached with appropriate scepticism. Our sound healing practitioners do not make diagnostic or curative claims.
What the evidence and consistent clinical experience do support: sound healing is an effective relaxation and stress-reduction intervention, shows promise for anxiety and insomnia, and produces meaningful wellbeing outcomes for the vast majority of people who experience it. It is best understood as a complementary wellness treatment, not a standalone medical intervention.
HTC offers a range of beauty and aesthetic treatments that complement our health services and reflect our whole-person wellness philosophy. Current offerings include:
All beauty treatments at HTC are performed with an awareness of eye and skin health, not purely aesthetics. Our therapists understand the relationship between aesthetic services and the underlying health of the structures they work with. It is perfectly possible to book a beauty treatment on the same day as a health treatment at HTC.
Yes — room rental is a central part of HTC's model. We welcome AHPRA-registered and ATMS-member natural health practitioners to join our collective and rent consultation rooms at Freshwater.
We particularly welcome practitioners in complementary or underrepresented modalities who would benefit from being part of a multi-practitioner environment with an established patient base and a coordinated referral network. Current openings vary — please contact us via our Practitioner Rooms page to express interest and discuss availability.
Practitioner rooms at HTC are fully furnished and equipped for immediate clinical use. Standard inclusions are:
Additional specialist equipment (sound healing instruments, massage-specific accessories, etc.) can be discussed based on your modality. Rooms can be configured for your specific requirements — contact us to arrange an inspection.
Yes. HTC offers both regular weekly/fortnightly room hire agreements and casual room rental for practitioners who are building their practice, testing a new location, or have irregular scheduling requirements. Casual hire is subject to availability and is booked in advance through our practitioner management system.
We also accommodate visiting practitioners — for example, those based primarily elsewhere who wish to offer sessions in Freshwater on specific days of the month. Please contact us to discuss an arrangement that fits your situation.
Patients discover HTC practitioners through several channels: the HTC website's practitioner directory, reception referrals when patients enquire about specific modalities, word of mouth within the Northern Beaches community, and search engine and Google Maps discovery. Being listed as part of the HTC collective typically provides a significant patient acquisition advantage over operating as an independent sole trader in an unknown location.
HTC's social media presence, blog content and community event participation also drive ongoing patient enquiry. Practitioners within the collective benefit from the clinic's broader marketing and community reputation.
Practitioners at HTC can opt in to the clinic's shared online booking system — which allows patients to book directly through the HTC website and app — or maintain their own independent booking system if they prefer. Both arrangements are accommodated.
Practitioners who opt in to the shared system benefit from visibility through HTC's booking platform and reception-managed appointment handling. Those using their own system are responsible for their own booking management. We're happy to discuss which arrangement suits your practice model when you enquire.
HTC practitioners are HICAPS providers for most major Australian health funds. Rebates are available for AHPRA-registered services (acupuncture) and ATMS-member services (naturopathy, remedial massage) subject to your individual health fund policy and extras cover. Common health funds accepted include Medibank, Bupa, HCF, NIB, HBF, AHM, CBHS, and others.
The rebate amount depends on your fund, your level of extras cover, and any annual limits on natural therapy benefits. We recommend contacting your health fund directly to confirm your coverage before your first appointment. Rebates are processed at the time of payment via HICAPS for eligible services.
Note: Medicare does not typically cover natural therapy services. GP mental health plans (MHCP) may cover specific psychology services — please ask if this applies to holistic psychotherapy at HTC.
Yes — HTC gift vouchers are redeemable for any treatment at the clinic, with no restriction on which modality or practitioner you choose. Vouchers are purchased in dollar-value amounts and applied against your total treatment cost. If your treatment costs less than the voucher value, the remaining balance is retained on the voucher for future use. If your treatment costs more than the voucher value, you pay the difference by card or cash.
Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. They can be used for one treatment or spread across multiple visits within the validity period. Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash or used to purchase additional vouchers.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the scheduled treatment fee. No-shows without prior notice may be charged the full treatment fee.
We understand that genuine emergencies and illness arise. If you need to cancel due to illness, please contact us as soon as possible and we will always work with you reasonably. We simply ask for courtesy notice where possible, as late cancellations make it very difficult for other patients to access that appointment time.
Gift vouchers forfeited due to no-show cancellation are not refunded but may be reinstated at practitioner discretion in exceptional circumstances.
Yes — there is street parking available in the immediate vicinity of HTC in Freshwater, including timed parking on Oliver Street and nearby streets. Parking availability varies by time of day; weekend and after-school slots can be busier.
HTC is also accessible by public bus from Manly, Dee Why and Curl Curl (bus routes stopping near Oliver Street). Cycling infrastructure in Freshwater makes the clinic accessible by bike from the surrounding suburbs. If you're attending during peak hours and are concerned about parking, we recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early or considering public transport. Our contact page has detailed directions and a map.
Yes — this is entirely possible at HTC and is in fact how many of our patients prefer to structure their visits. Common same-day combinations include acupuncture followed by massage, facial treatments followed by reflexology, and naturopathic consultation followed by a sound healing session.
When booking, simply select your treatments consecutively in the booking system, or call us and we'll arrange back-to-back appointments for you. Please allow adequate time between treatments for any post-treatment rest period — particularly after acupuncture or sound healing, where a brief transition period before driving is advisable. Our reception team can help you plan the right sequencing and timing.
Our Freshwater reception team is happy to help — by phone, email or in person. We're open Monday to Sunday, 9:00am to 9:00pm.
