Sound Frequencies, Chakras and Realistic Expectations

8:04 pm 24 October 2026 0 Comments

Some sound practices link tones with organs or chakras. You can enjoy a restful session without accepting those theories or expecting a medical result.

Beliefs about tones and frequencies

Some sound practices link certain frequencies with particular organs, emotions or chakras. You may come across charts claiming that one tone repairs tissue or another clears anxiety. These ideas belong to specific belief systems, and they are no evidence that a sound acts on an organ, heals the body or resolves a mental health condition.

When comparing sound sessions with massage, counselling or acupuncture, it helps to understand what each option is offering and what it is not.

Enjoying sound for what it is

None of this means sound has no place in a wellbeing routine. Many people simply enjoy a reflective, restful experience, much as they might enjoy a concert or a quiet walk. Dr Christine Shen, Acupuncturist, runs sound sessions in Lane Cove on exactly that basis: relaxation and personal enjoyment.

Ask her what is intended in your session and share your preferences. You can take part without signing up to any particular energy theory, and you are welcome to keep your own views.

Adjusting the experience to suit you

  • Volume can be lowered or raised.
  • Instruments can be moved closer or further away.
  • You can sit, recline or lie down.
  • You can pause whenever you need to.

No emotional reaction is required of you, and fidgeting is perfectly fine. Let Christine hear what feels pleasant and what does not, and keep a firm line between a restful hour you enjoy and any suggestion that sound is medical treatment.

Where mental health support fits

If you are dealing with anxiety, low mood or another mental health concern, psychological treatment or a GP review is the appropriate path. Christine holds psychotherapy qualifications and can discuss that option as a separate service with its own assessment.

For a calm session of listening at the Lane Cove clinic, come with curiosity, leave the frequency charts behind and let the experience be judged by whether you found it pleasant.
